GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Stephen Faris earned ACC Pitcher-of-the-Week accolades. Faris, who entered the week leading the nation in ERA, pitched a complete game five-hitter to earn the win against No. 4 South Carolina on Wednesday. The Richmond, Va., native allowed just five hits, two runs and one walk while striking out seven in the win over the Gamecocks. It was his second-straight complete game, as he went the distance against Georgia on April 6, allowing five hits. He became the first Tiger to throw back-to-back complete games since 2000 and is the only pitcher in the ACC to have thrown two complete games this season. The sophomore is 3-1 on the season with a 0.79 ERA, 41 strikeouts, a save and is holding opponents to a league-low .164 batting average. He has only allowed 24 hits, four earned runs and 14 walks in 45.1 innings pitched.
