Edwards Named to All-ACC Academic Team for Second Consecutive Year

CONWAY, S.C. – Danielle Edwards, a sophomore point guard from Perry Hall, Md., was named to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Friday morning. It is Edwards’ second-consecutive league academic honor, as she also earned the accolade as a freshman in 2016.

Edwards, a Sports Communication major, started all 31 games for the Tigers in 2016-17 and averaged 32.3 minutes per game, more than any other player on the team. She ranked third on the Clemson team in scoring with a 9.7 points per game average and led the team with 59 steals on the season (1.9 steals per game). Edwards scored in double figures in 16 games this season, including 17 points to lead the Tigers in their ACC Tournament First Round win over Virginia Tech on March 1, the program’s first ACC Tournament win since 2014.

At least one Clemson women’s basketball player has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team for six consecutive years, including all four years under Head Coach Audra Smith.
