Tommy Smith, Charlotte, N.C.

Now that we have Tommy Bowden and a great coaching staff in place, what are our capital improvement priorities to help Clemson win our next national championship in football? I’m a Tiger Pride supporter, but I’ve heard that a much needed new football facility is currently not a top priority in this campaign. Football pays the bills, so let’s invest there first.

Basically, facilities are probably the only thing that we are really looking at. All of our coaches and our student-athletes, we feel have great budgets and opportunities. Tiger Pride is really built strictly around improving what we think is a good physical plant already. (We want) to make it as good a football plant, baseball plant, volleyball and all those as we can possibly make it.

Regarding the new football facility. We are currently in the evaluation mode. That process will be moving forward. It is a top priority to look at football because it is our top revenue producer. A recommendation will go to the President (Jim Barker) and the President will either approve it or disapprove it, but we are looking very favorably of following what we are going to do in that area.
