CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman point guard Danielle Edwards (Perry Hall, Md.) was named ACC Rookie of the Week by the Blue Ribbon Panel for the week ending Dec. 27, 2015. Edwards led Clemson to a 67-49 win over UNC-Asheville on Dec. 21, tallying 20 points on 6-10 shooting and knocking down all three of her three-point attempts. In addition to her scoring, Edwards added three assists, three steals, two rebounds and did not turn the ball over in 29 minutes of action.
Edwards scored the first eight points of the game for the Lady Tigers vs. UNC-Asheville and finished the first half with 16 of Clemson’s 30 points. Her 16 first half points are the most by a Lady Tiger this season. Edwards ranks third in the ACC in scoring (12.2 points per game) amongst freshmen and her three 20-point games this season are the most by an ACC rookie. She also ranks in the top-12 in the league in free throw percentage (.846), steals per game (2.0) and minutes played per game (32.5).
Edwards is the first Lady Tiger to garner ACC Rookie of the Week honors since Nyilah Jamison-Myers did so in 2012-13.
