NEW ORLEANS – The Clemson University women’s cross country team along with the Tigers’ Logan Morris have been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic recipients, the organization announced Thursday.
The Tiger women achieved their best Southeast Regional finish since 2012 after placing ninth overall among a field of 33 teams. Four of Clemson’s five regional scorers achieved personal-best times. As a team, the Tigers accomplished a collective GPA of 3.55 for the fall of 2018 and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.49.
Morris, who was recently named an All-ACC Academic selection for the fourth time of her career, qualified for the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championship meet after becoming Clemson’s 22nd All-Region recipient. The industrial engineering major achieved a sixth-place finish at the 2018 Southeast Regional meet after running a 6K personal-best time of 20:01.4. Additionally, Morris paced the Tiger women all season long, including at the Southeast Regional.
Criteria for each team requires a cumulative GPA and most recent semester GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Individually, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA, including the most recent semester, on a 4.0 scale.
