Clemson’s Lele Hardy Tabbed ACC Rookie Of The Week

Dec. 18, 2006

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Lady Tiger freshman Lele Hardy was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. She led Clemson to a 70-67 win at Tennessee Tech on Sunday.

Hardy nearly missed her third double-double of the season, falling just one rebound shy in the Lady Tigers’ victory over the Golden Eagles. The rookie’s five assists tied a personal best, while her three blocked shots set a career high. Hardy hit a crucial jumper with just over one minute remaining against TTU that gave Clemson a 67-63 advantage and she ranked second on the team with 29 minutes played.

The Spartanburg, SC native became the first Clemson player since the 2001-02 season to earn the accolade, as Khaili Sanders and Amanda White each collected the honor that year.

Virginia’s Brenna McGuire was named the ACC Player of the Week as she helped the Cavaliers post a 100-60 victory over Cleveland State, improving their season mark to 8-2 overall.

The accolade marks the first weekly accolade for both players.

Clemson will play host to the Dayton Flyers on Tuesday night . Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 pm from Littlejohn Coliseum.
