CLEMSON, S.C. (Feb. 24, 2026) – Clemson University announced today a strategic collaboration with Labcorp, a global leader of innovative and comprehensive laboratory services, to improve healthcare access, expand educational programs and support workforce development throughout South Carolina.
“This collaboration embodies Clemson’s mission to serve, innovate, and lead on campus, across our state, and across the country,” said Michael Drake, CEO of Clemson Ventures. “Labcorp shares our vision, and together we are building opportunities that improve lives today while preparing the next generation of leaders for tomorrow.”
Expanding Community Health Initiatives
Through the collaboration, Clemson and Labcorp aim to expand healthcare access across South Carolina. Labcorp will support Clemson Rural Health mobile units and fixed clinics, which provide health screenings and services by offering diagnostic testing for uninsured patients, helping to reduce barriers to care.
Clemson student-athletes will participate in select mobile unit visits to raise awareness about the importance of preventive health screenings and early detection, reinforcing the university’s commitment to service and leadership beyond the playing field.
Labcorp’s visibility will extend across Clemson Athletics through branding opportunities, in-game features, and marquee events, including Dabo’s All In Ball.
Development of New Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program
The collaboration will also extend into Clemson’s academic mission. The Department of Bioengineering and the Research and Education in Disease Diagnosis and Intervention (REDDI) Lab in the College of Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences will launch a new Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) program. Labcorp is supporting the program, one of only a few nationwide, through scholarships, equipment donations, and curriculum and program development. The collaboration also builds upon the newly established undergraduate and graduate clinical diagnostic certificate programs launched in Fall 2025.
Supporting Workforce Development
Labcorp will also collaborate with Clemson’s Sales Innovation Program and serve as a Diamond Tiger Sponsor for the university’s Center for Career and Professional Development presented by Michelin, helping students explore careers in healthcare and life sciences.
“We are pleased to welcome Labcorp as the newest Strategic Corporate Partner of Clemson University,” said Angie Leidinger, Clemson University Senior Vice President of External Affairs. “This comprehensive collaboration with Labcorp provides new opportunities in talent development and campus and community impact in alignment with the goals of Clemson Elevate.”
“This collaboration exemplifies how industries and academic institutions can work together to drive innovation,” said Serena Guzman, Senior Vice President of Labcorp’s Atlantic Division. “We’re proud to work with Clemson on these important community health initiatives and support the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
