Clemson, S.C. – Clemson women’s basketball (7-4, 1-1 ACC) defeated Pittsburgh (6-6, 0-1 ACC), 73-41 at Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The 32-point win margin marked the Tigers’ largest ACC victory since defeating Boston College by 33 points (Feb. 16, 2019).
Junior guard/forward Rusne Augustinaite led the Tigers by matching a season-best 19 points. Junior guard Hannah Kohn also matched a season-best 13 points. Senior guard Rachael Rose scored 12 points, shooting 4-6 from the field. Senior guard Mia Moore (11 points) rounded out the fourth Tiger in double-digit points. This marks the third time this season that four Tigers scored double-digit points.
On the glass, the Tigers grabbed a season-best 46 boards (32 defensive). On the defensive end, Moore tied a season-high five steals of the team’s 11. The Tiger defense turned 18 turnovers into 21 points on the other side of the floor and held the Panthers to 10 or fewer points in three of the four quarters.
Freshman guard Theresa Hagans scored 23 points to lead the Panthers’ offense.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
After trailing 9-5 to Pitt with 5:55 left in the first quarter, Clemson scored 17 straight points to close out the quarter and never looked back. Eight of Augustinate’s 19 points came within that scoring stretch to lead the Tigers.
