Clemson Men’s Tennis Defeats UNCG 6-1

Clemson, SC — The Clemson Men’s Tennis Team defeated UNCG by a score of 6-1 on Friday afternoon as part of the Clemson Spring Classic at Sloan Tennis Center. The Tigers will return to action Friday evening to face Tennessee Tech.

Clemson began the match by sweeping the doubles matches. Ryan Young and Goran Sterijovski defeated Pieter Visser and Inlio Moran 8-2 at number one doubles. At flight two doubles, Nathan Thompson and Brett Twente and Clement Reix downed Daniel Bustamente and Jason Steirhorn 8-2.

In singles actions, Sterijovski won the number one singles match, defeating Moran 6-3, 6-2. Thompson downed Levy 6-4, 6-2 at the number two position. Boetsch defeated Visser 7-5, 6-3 at flight three singles. At the number five match, Brett Twente defeated Ian Cencher in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 at number six singles. UNCG’s only point of the match came at the number four singles match as Ladocecur defeated Young 7-5, 6-3 breaking Young’s nine-match winning streak.

With the win, Clemson improves to 10-2 overall. The Tigers return to action on Friday evening as they play host to Tennessee Tech. The Clemson Spring Classic will continue all weekend at the Sloan Tennis Center.
