Clemson Falls To Georgia Tech In Men’s Tennis, 6-1

Atlanta, GA– The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team won the doubles point and five out the six singles matches to defeat Clemson 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 10-13 on the season and 2-3 in the ACC.

The Yellow Jackets (11-8, 4-3 ACC) got off to a strong start in the match against the Tigers as they swept all three doubles matches to open the day. Georgia Tech’s Roger Anderson and David Wright won at the No. 1 spot, as they downed Clemson’s duo of Damiisa Robinson and Goran Sterijovski by an 8-4 score. The loss was only the third of the season and the first in the ACC for Robinson and Sterijovski whose doubles record now stands at 12-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

In singles play, the Yellow Jackets won five of six matches on the day. Sander Koning picked up the lone win for the Tigers as he defeated Stephen Moros in straight sets 6-3, 7-6. With the win, Koning improved his overall singles record to 21-6 and his ACC record to 3-1 on the season.

The Tigers will next be in action on Friday when they play host to 23-ranked Wake Forest at 5:00PM at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
