This was the Tigers’ first victory over the Gamecocks since the 2007 season. Clemson has won five of the last nine meetings between the two schools.

“We were nervous starting out, but played into the matches well,” said Clemson Head Coach Chuck McCuen. “Gerardo Meza competed well today, and Dominique, Zachary, and Yannick continued their solid play. We battled in doubles but need to play the important points more aggressively. We look forward to fine tuning some areas tomorrow before playing Wake Forest on Friday.

“We appreciated all of the fan support today and it definitely helped the players and coaches today,” said McCuen.

The Tigers will return to ACC play this weekend as Clemson plays host to Wake Forest on Friday, March 25, and N.C. State on Sunday, March 27, in the Tigers’ next action.
