CLEMSON, S.C. — Oscar Bredkjaer had his second consecutive round of three-under-par 69 to move into the top five in the individual race at The Hayt at famed Sawgrass Country Club in Jacksonville, FL.
The Tiger team had a score of three-under-par 285 on Sunday and stands in 10th place at four-under par for the first 36 holes. The tournament concludes with 18 holes on the par 72 layout on Monday.
Charlotte leads the 16-team field through 36 holes with an 18-under par score of 558. LSU, ranked sixth in the nation, and Auburn, ranked second, are tied for second at 15-under par 561. Eleventh-ranked Texas Tech is fourth at -14. The Tigers are in 10th place at four-under-par 572, but the squad is just four shots out of seventh place in the field that includes seven of the top 25 teams in the nation.
Among the teams Clemson is ahead of top ranked Virginia, who is tied for 11th at -2.
Bredkjaer’s 69 was his sixth round in the 60s this year, and it marked the first time he has had two rounds in the 60s in the same tournament. He had five birdies and just two bogeys on Sunday. He is now tied for fourth with four other golfers and enters the final round just one shot out of first place. Virginia’s Ben James, the number-three ranked player in the nation, Seb Cave of Charlotte, and Connor Graham of Texas Tech are all tied for first at seven-under. Eight players are within one shot of the lead entering the final round.
Colin Salema also had a second round 69 for the Tigers thanks to four birdies and just one bogey. He is a two-under-par 142 through two rounds and stands in a tie for 27th place in the medalist race. Like Bredkjaer, Salema had nine-hole scores of 34-35. It was Salema’s best round since he had a final round 66 at the Bryan Brothers Collegiate on September 29th.
Senior Lucas Augustsson was a third Tiger under par on Sunday, as he carded a 71 after an opening round 72. He had four birdies and three bogeys and stands in a tie for 32nd at 143.
Rich Wills had a second round 76 after and opening round 73 and is at five-over-par through 36 holes. Freshman Jackson Byrd had a second round 83 and is at 162 through two rounds.
The final round will begin for the Tigers at 8:45 am on Monday. Clemson will be paired with South Florida and Coastal Carolina. Live scoring is available HERE.
