No. 35 Tigers Sweep No. 44 Cardinals in Louisville

CLEMSON, S.C. No. 35 Clemson (5-8, 1-2 ACC) had teeth Friday night, bouncing back in emphatic fashion with a sweep over No. 44 Louisville (12-5, 2-1 ACC) at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday. The victory marked the Tigers’ first win at Louisville since 2016.

In doubles play, the Tigers struck first after the pair of Matisse Farzam and Marko Mesarovic, ranked No. 62 in the country, dispatched Cressoni and Lokko, 6-1. Louisville drew even after Ahouda and El Amine defeated Henrik Bladelius and Noah Lopez Cherubino, 6-4. Viktor Markov and Noa Vukadin clinched the doubles point for the Tigers after defeating the Cardinals’ pair of Onofrei and Steinbach, 6-3. 

Lopez Cherubino picked up his first singles win in the orange and regalia to open double the Tigers’ lead, losing just two games on the way to defeating Carroll, 6-1, 6-1. Bladelius followed that up with a victory of his own, defeating Louisville’s Onofrei in two sets, 6-4, 6-4. Shortly after, Farzam polished off the Tiger victory when he defeated El Amine, 6-4, 6-2.

  4. Bladelius (CU) def. Onofrei (LOU), 6-4, 6-4.
  5. Cressoni (LOU) led Mesarovic (CU), 7-5, 2-1, ABD. 
  6. Lopez Cherubino (CU) def. Carroll (LOU), 6-1, 6-1.
