Clemson, S.C. – Clemson women’s basketball (20-9, 11-6 ACC) picked up a road win in the penultimate game of the season, defeating California (17-13, 8-9 ACC), 70-63 at Haas Pavilion on Thursday night. The Tigers earned their 20th win of the season for the first time since 2018-19 and reached 11 ACC wins for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
Offensively, Clemson was led by senior forward Raven Thompson, who scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds en route to her first double-double on the season. Senior guard Mia Moore led the Tigers in points (21) while also racking up four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Junior guard/forward Rusne Augustinaite finished the day with 15 points after scoring the game’s first three baskets. Senior guard Taylor Johnson-Matthews had 14 of her own. As a team, Clemson shot 52% from the field, marking the tenth time this season the Tigers have made at least half of their field goal attempts and the first time since Feb. 8 against Boston College.
The Golden Bears were led by Lulu Twidale (23 points) and Gisella Maul (18 points, eight rebounds).

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDEDAugustinaite opened the scoring 46 seconds into the game, and Clemson would lead the rest of the way. The first quarter was punctuated by a layup from Johnson-Matthews at the buzzer to give the Tigers a 17-9 advantage. The second quarter was more of the same and the Tigers went into the locker room with a five-point advantage. An Augustinaite three-pointer opened up the second half to stretch the lead to eight, and Cal would not get back within one possession the rest of the night.
