No. 28 Clemson Falls to No. 8 UCF, 4-1

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 28 Clemson (3-6) took the doubles point from the start before eventually falling to No. 8 UCF on Friday night, 4-1.

Viktor Markov / Noa Vukadin (CU) seized an early doubles win with a 6-3 victory over Dlimi / Colin (UCF). UCF responded with Lemire / Olivera defeating Marko Mesarovic / Matisse Farzam (CU), 6-4. After falling behind 3-1, Henrik Bladelius / Yannic Nittmann bounced back to take a 7-6(2) win over Abderrahman / Benchakroun (UCF), giving Clemson the doubles point.

UCF went on to win four straight singles points to win the match, 4-3. Lemire (UCF) defeated Edoardo Chérié Lignière (CU), 6-0, 6-2. Then Markov (CU) fell to Dlimi (UCF), 6-2, 6-4. Rodrigues (UCF) beat Mesarovic (CU), 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. Bladelius (CU) then lost to Oliveira (UCF), 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.

DOUBLES (FINISHED 1, 3, 2*)

  1. Markov / Vukadin (CU) defeated Dlimi / Colin (UCF), 6-3.
  2. Bladelius / Nittmann (CU) defeated Abderrahman / Benchakroun (UCF), 7-6(2).
  3. Lemire / Oliveira (UCF) defeated Mesarovic / Farzam (CU), 6-4.

SINGLES (FINISHED 6, 1, 4, 5*)

  1. Dlimi (UCF) defeated Markov (CU), 6-2, 6-4.
  2. Abderrahman (UCF) and Farzam (CU) did not finish, 3-6, 6-3, 5-3.
  3. Vukadin (CU) and Benchakroun (UCF) did not finish, 6-2, 6-6.
  4. Rodrigues (UCF) defeated Mesarovic (CU), 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.
  5. Oliveira (UCF) defeated Bladelius (CU), 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
  6. Lemire (UCF) defeated Chérié Lignière (CU), 6-0, 6-2.

 

UP NEXT

The Tigers will head to Tampa, Fla. on Feb. 22 to face South Florida in a noon match. Clemson is 4-2 all-time against the Bulls. The Tigers have gone on two streaks of two wins (1990, 1991 & 1994, 1995), each interrupted by a USF win (1993 & 2021).
