Mia Moore Scores a Career-High 31 En Route to a 67-65 Double Overtime Win over Georgia Tech

Clemson, S.C. – Senior guard Mia Moore (31 points) reset her career-high to lead Clemson women’s basketball (18-8, 9-5 ACC) over Georgia Tech (11-15, 6-8) in a double overtime thriller on Thursday night in Littlejohn Coliseum. Moore’s back-to-back 30-point performances are the first time that a Clemson Player has scored 30-plus points in back-to-back wins since Barbara Kennedy Dixon did so during the 1981-82 season.

Coach Poppie has secured his 80th win as a head coach and his 32nd at Clemson. This was Clemson’s ninth double overtime game in program history and first since January 21, 2021, when the Tigers fell to Florida State 95-88.

Tonight marked Moore’s second-straight 30-plus point performance and the fourth time Moore has scored over 20 points this season. Along with Moore, graduate forwards Demeara Hinds (10 points, 9 rebounds) and Raven Thompson (16 rebounds) helped power the Tigers to the win. Thompson’s 16 rebounds matched a career-high, which made way for Clemson to outrebound the Yellow Jackets 55-50.

The Tigers managed to hold Georgia Tech to 27-72 (37.5%) from the field and 5-27 (18.5%) from beyond the arc. This was the 14th game this season in which the Tigers have held their opponent to 40% or lower from the field, and the second game in a row to do so.

Georgia Tech was led by Erica Moon (20 points) and Talayah Walker (16 points).

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
The game was tied at 59-all heading into the second overtime, and with 3:33 remaining, the Tigers found themselves down 65-61. In the last 2:17 of game time, Moore scored three points from the free throw line and senior guard Rachael Rose hit a layup with 30 seconds left to put the Tigers up 66-65. Moore’s fourth free throw of overtime, and a defensive stand by Clemson, sealed the 67-65 win for the Tigers.
