CLEMSON, S.C. – Friday, the Clemson men’s tennis team (3-2) will head to Dallas for the ITA National Indoor Tournament. The seven-seed Tigers will face two-seed Virginia (6-1) in the opening round on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The match will be available to stream on PlaySight and live results will be available on iOnCourt.
The Tigers earned a berth in the tournament when they defeated No. 14 South Carolina and Harvard in the ITA Kickoff in Columbia, S.C. Jan. 22 and 23.
Clemson’s first round matchup is No. 1 Virginia, who is coming off a 5-2 loss at No. 2 Ohio State last weekend. Friday’s matchup will be the 77th installment of the series between the Tigers and Cavaliers where Clemson holds a 42-34 advantage. The Cavaliers have won the last 25 matchups dating back to 2004. The teams’ first meeting came in 1955 where the Cavaliers won 7-2. Virginia would go on to take the next three meetings before Clemson took 42 of the next 47 contests between 1962 and 2003. The most recent matchup came on April 6, 2025 where No. 6 Virginia defeated No. 25 Clemson, 4-2.
If the Tigers win, they will go on to face the winner of the three-seed Mississippi State Bulldogs and six-seed Florida Gators Saturday, Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Sunday, Clemson picked up a 5-2 victory over the Charlotte 49ers. The doubles teams of Victor Markov and Henrik Bladelius, and Noa Vukadin and Manuel Plunger each earned victories to clinch the doubles point.
Following doubles play, Eduardo Chérié Lignière and Bladelius picked up singles wins to stretch the Tiger lead to 3-0 before Matisse Farzam clinched the victory in two sets. Markov rounded out the contest with a singles victory of his own to give Clemson a 5-2 win on the day.
Following the Charlotte match, Markov won ACC Player of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks.
