Atlanta, Ga. – Mia Moore scored her 1,000th point as Clemson women’s basketball (12-6, 3-3 ACC) fell to Georgia Tech (8-10, 3-3 ACC) at McCamish Pavilion on Sunday afternoon, 58-55.
Three minutes into the first quarter, Mia Moore (seven assists) caught a pass behind the arc and drained her first of two three-pointers on the day to become the 32nd player to score her 1000th point in a Clemson jersey. Raven Thompson (15 points) led the Tigers in scoring and put in her fourth straight double-digit scoring performance. Rachael Rose added 11 points of her own. Demeara Hinds (10 points, nine rebounds) finished one rebound shy of a double-double.
Georgia Tech was paced by a 22-point performance from Talayah Walker and a season-best 18 rebound performance by Brianna Turnage.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDEDClemson took a five-point lead into the break, 30-25, but Georgia Tech used a 12-2 run in the first seven minutes of the second half to take a 37-32 lead they would not give up the rest of the afternoon.
In the final 47 seconds, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Tigers, 7-6, which included four trips to the charity stripe and a Georgia Tech Layup. Thompson connected on a 3-pointer at the Buzzer, but Clemson fell by a narrow margin of three points.
