CLEMSON, S.C – The Clemson Tigers womenâs basketball team hosts the Florida Gators in the 2024 SEC/ACC Challenge.
The game will tip off at 8:00 p.m. and can be seen on ACC Network with Roy Philpott and Helen Williams on the call. It can also be heard on 105.5 The Roar or the Clemson Tigers app with William Qualkinbush and Faxon Childress on the broadcast. The Tigers enter the game with a 3-2 all-time record against Florida, the last meeting between the two schools coming in the 2023 WNIT.
Clemson is coming off a 67-48 win against Kennesaw State â its fifth win of the season â and looking to further establish homecourt advantage in Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers were led by Tessa Miller who put up 15 points and 11 boards to record her first double-double as a Tiger.
The Tigers currently have one of the best defenses in the nation. Following its defensive masterpiece against KSU, Clemson is now allowing just 51 points per game which ranks them 11th in the country and second in the ACC. CU has recorded two games this season in which it gave up just 33 points to its opposition.
Loyal McQueen has been a force to be reckoned with on offense and leads the Tigers with over 14 points and five assists per contest. Just seven games into the season and McQueen and set new single-game career highs in points (22), rebounds (seven), and tied her career high in assists (seven).
Sharpshooting Hannah Kohn is coming off of her best game as a Tiger and one of the best games of her career. Kohn scored 14 points in Clemsonâs win over Kennesaw State, and made a season high four three-point field goals in the victory.
Combo guard Mia Moore has been a Swiss Army Knife for Shawn Poppieâs squad this season. Not only is she the second-leading scorer on the team, but she leads the team in rebounds, is one of the best on-ball defenders, and is shooting a blistering 40% from beyond the arc.
So far this season, Clemson has held its second and third highest-attended games in program history, both of which had crowds of over 5,000 people. Thursdayâs matchup against the Gators is Clemsonâs Student Appreciation Night and hopes to bring in another big audience. Students in attendance can enter a raffle for a TV, an iPad, a speaker, and a pair of AirPods Max.
