Stern And Betcher Earn ACC Weekly Honors

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s Cindy Stern and Jessi Betcher earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, afer leading the Tigers to a 3-0 record last week, including a 3-0 sweep over #21 Arkansas.

Stern, a senior middle hitter from Cincinnati, OH, earned her third ACC Player of the Week honor this season after averaging 5.09 kills per game, 1.36 blocks per game, 2.00 digs per game and a .369 hitting percentage. In the Tigers first two ACC match-ups, Stern knocked down an average of 4.75 kills per game, 1.09 blocks per game and a .338 hitting percentage. To finish the week off, Stern recorded 18 kills, seven digs and a .452 hitting percentage against No. 21 Arkansas.

ACC Rookie of the Week honors were captured by Clemson setter Jessi Betcher who finished the week averaging 15.18 assists per game, 3.00 digs per game, as well as a .240 hitting percentage. The freshman from Boulder, CO, averaged 14.75 assists in her first two ACC matches, along with 2.63 digs per game. This is Betcher’s fourth consecutive ACC Rookie of the Week honor.
