CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Behind 11 team blocks and six service aces, the Clemson Tigers (16-10, 4-10 ACC) swept Boston College (16-10, 5-9 ACC) on Sunday afternoon. The three-set victory (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) moved Clemson to 27-8 all-time against the Eagles, including winning the last five meetings between the two programs.
The Tigers were spurred to an opening set victory after stringing together 14 kills, three aces and three blocks. The three aces came at the hands of McKenna Gildon (two) and Addi Rains within the first eight Tiger points in the set. The middle duo of Kate Hansen and Nil Okur provided a spark on both sides of the ball contributing to multiple kills and blocks, including Okur clocking a solo block that began a five-point run for the Tigers. Khaya Gordon closed out the set with her fifth kill of the day.
Clemson continued to serve aces in the second set as Hansen and Katherine Sandt each picked up one within the first 11 combined points. Scoring runs highlighted by blocks from Hansen, including one solo and two assisted by Mia Moore and Mia McGrath, separated the Tigers from the Eagles by an 11-point advantage. Moore and McGrath quickly added kills, and it was Sandt and Gordon that extended the lead to 12 points before Okur closed the set, 25-14, with a kill.
Boston College looked to bounce back with the early lead in the third, but Clemson responded with kills from Okur and the team’s sixth ace of the match, this time from Claire Luoma, who tied things at 14-all. The Tigers established a lead with kills from Moore, McGrath, Hansen and Sandt that forced BC to call timeout trailing by three, 21-18. Returning from the timeout, Clemson strung together four quick points, including the match-point solo block from Gordon, to secure the sixth sweep of the 2025 season.
