CLEMSON, S.C. – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced Thursday afternoon that sophomore midfielder Natalie Shurtleff and senior defender Summer Agostino have been selected to the 2025 IWLCA Division I All-American Second Team and Third Team, respectively. Shurtleff and Agostino are the first Clemson players to be recognized as IWLCA All-Americans.
Shurtleff and Agostino have been no strangers to the award circuit this season with the two having combined for 16 awards in the program’s third season of competition. Throughout the 2025 season, Agostino earned two ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors, the only player in the ACC to do so, an IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week nod, named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and selected to the Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Third Team. During the postseason, the senior grabbed a 2025 Nike Lacrosse Media All-American Second Team honor, was named a member of the All-ACC Second Team and earned a spot on the IWLCA Division I All-Region South First Team.
Shurtleff has had similar success in her sophomore campaign. The Marylander was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and selected to the Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Third Team during the regular season. In the postseason, she earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team, chosen to be a part of the All-ACC First Team, the first player in Clemson history to do so, grabbed a 2025 Nike Lacrosse Media All-American Third Team honor and named to the IWLCA Division I All-Region South First Team, one of three Clemson players to do so in consecutive seasons.
Agostino led the Clemson defense with the best statistical defensive season by a Tiger to date. The senior broke single-season records for caused turnovers with 58 this past season and ground balls with 57. Both marks lead the ACC and were consistently in the top-seven nationally. Agostino is one of two players in a Power Four conference with over 55 caused turnovers and over 55 ground balls. She also broke the Clemson single-game record and set a career-high and ACC season-high seven caused turnovers against the Pittsburgh Panthers, tied for the fourth-most in a single-game in Division I this season.
Shurtleff was a force on offense, defense and draws for Clemson. The sophomore surpassed her freshman totals in goals, assists and points and already has 99 points in her career, the most all-time in a Clemson uniform. Her 57 points this season and 36 goals are both the fourth-most on the team, while her shot rate of 50.7% is the second-highest with a minimum of 10 shots attempted. Alongside her offensive talents, she has also been great defensively. Shurtleff has contributed 24 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers to one of the best defenses in the country and the top defense in the ACC in terms of ground balls and caused turnovers. Additionally, in the draw circle, the Marylander has won the draw control 35 times. She is one of three players on the team with at least 20 ground balls, 30 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers and the only one to do so with over 20 goals.
