CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers are set to compete in the last regular season regatta of the spring on April 25th and 26th for the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. Notable ranked programs rowing at the Lake Wheeler Invitational include No. 20 Columbia, No. 18 Duke, No. 24 North Carolina and No. 12 Virginia.

In the first season of Head Coach Adrienne Martelli’s administration, the Tigers have put up some great results. At the Rocky Top invite, the 2V8 had a first-place finish over then-No. 20 North Carolina. At the Big 10 Invitational the 1V4 placed ahead of then-No. 17 Oregon State, the 2V4 finished ahead of then-No. 21 Indiana and Oregon State, the 3V8 finished above then-No. 16 Duke and then-No. 20 Oklahoma and the 1V8 finished above Oklahoma in the final race of the invitational.

In the fall, the Tigers competed in the Head of the Charles and the Princeton Chase. At the Head of the Charles, in the first regatta under the leadership of Martelli, Clemson broke records for the fastest time recorded by the Tigers since 2008 for the Club 8+, 16:59.076, and since 2007 for the Championship 8+, 16:44.528. For the Princeton Chase, the Tigers A Boat placed sixth with a time of 16:03.517 in the Women’s 4+.

The Clemson rowing program will once again bring the 3V8, 2V8, 1V8, 2V4 and 1V4 to Lake Wheeler with each competing three times. The 3V8 will start the festivities with a 9:30 launch time with the Tigers racing in 30-minute intervals afterwards until 11:30 a.m. The 3V8 will then start the afternoon slate at 2:15. Clemson’s 2V4 will then start at 2:51 before the 1V4’s 3:25 start time. The 2V8 and 1V8 will end Friday’s rowing at 3:55 and 4:25, respectively.

Saturday will be another early start for the 3V8 with the boat slated to race at 9:00 a.m. The Tigers’ 2V4, 1V4, 2V8 and 1V8 will again race in 30-minute intervals afterwards in that order.

A few weeks after the Tigers are done in Lake Wheeler, Clemson will host the ACC Rowing Championship on Lake Hartwell. The regatta will take place on May 16th and May 17th with more details to be announced.
