Rowing Holds ?Team Up for Clemson? Regatta on Saturday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s rowing team held the first-annual Joint City-University Advisory Board community-rowing event on Lake Hartwell on Saturday. Thirty-three teams from around the city and the university competed in the regatta in order to raise money for local non-profit organizations. “This event was a fantastic way to bring the University, local community and the rowing team together,” said Clemson head coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “We had 70 people from the women’s rowing team here helping out all day, but special thanks goes to the club rowing program from Clemson. They had over 50 people helping out all day, and we could not have pulled off the event without them.”President and Mrs. Barker were here racing in one of the morning sessions, and the Clemson Mayor spent the entire day hanging out at the boathouse. This event was a lot of fun for everyone and it gave our student athletes the experience of teaching the sport that we love to so many people.”The regatta format featured six different flights of 250 meters each with the winner of each facing off in a 250-meter race at the end of the day. The Grand Champion of the day was the Clemson Sertoma Club. The Clemson women’s rowing team will return to the water when they hold their annual Class Day Regatta on November 10 at 9:00 AM.
