Volleyball Defeats Georgia Tech

October 14, 1998

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson volleyball team, ranked third in District III, defeated Georgia Tech 3-0 Wednesday night at Jervey gym. The Tigers took a 15-13, 15-6, 15-9 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Clemson outhit Georgia Tech in each game, taking a .206 to .075 hitting advantage in game two.

Freshman Jodi Steffes led the Tigers with a .409 hitting percentage, with 10 kills, one error and 22 total attempts. Senior Stephanie Schulz had 16 digs and six blocks to lead Clemson. She finished the evening with a .300 hitting percentage (10 kills, four errors, 20 total attacks). Schulz needs just seven block assists to tie the Clemson career record of 367.

Junior Alison Coday had 13 kills to lead Clemson, while sophomore setter Missy Kudelka recorded 39 assists. Junior Skye Frost had two service aces and 11 digs.

Georgia Tech (16-8, 5-3 ACC) was led by Carla Gartner, who hit .281 with 13 kills, four errors and 32 total attacks. Amanda Sabo recorded 12 digs in the loss.

Clemson (12-6, 5-3 ACC) will play host to Florida A&M Saturday at noon.
