CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Volleyball team will play in its final spring action on Saturday by hosting a three-team tournament. The Tigers will take on the Winthrop Eagles at 10:00 am and the Charlotte 49ers at 1:00 pm. The Niners and Eagles will play at 11:30 am. Admission is free.
The Tigers are coming off a five-set victory over the Furman Paladins on Wednesday evening. This weekend’s competition will mark the end of the spring season, and the last match before the Tigers add their four incoming freshmen in the fall.
Clemson defeated Charlotte during the 2009 season on Oct. 20, a 3-0 decision. Natalie Patzin , Adeleye, and Alexa Rand, all freshmen, combined for 34 kills against only five errors. Clemson hit .324 as a team, including Patzin’s 16-2-29 night.
Clemson finished 23-10 as season ago, and made its third straight NCAA Tournament. Four players were named All-ACC, and two were named to the All-freshman team. Sandra Adeleye was the AVCA East Region Rookie of the Year.
