Three Tiger Volleyball Players Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, NC – The 2005 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Volleyball team was announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Three Clemson student-athletes were named to the inaugural list, as senior Meghan Stanton and sophomores Sue Eckman and Brittany Ross earned the selection.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

NC State led the conference with four selections to the academic team. Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech each placed three student-athletes on the squad, while Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest each had two student-athletes named to the team. Duke rounded out the team with one honoree.

Eckman, a history major from St. Charles, IL, recorded 229 digs and served 24 aces as a defensive specialist for Head Coach Jolene Jordan-Hoover’s squad during the 2005 season. Ross also earned second-team All-ACC honors this past season after totaling a team-best 525 kills. The communications studies major is from Sunrise, FL. A sport management major and native of Kildeer, IL, Stanton played in 113 of 118 games in 2005, totaling 122 kills in her final season as a Tiger.
