BLACKSBURG, VA — The Clemson women’s track and field team competed in the Kroger Invitational held this weekend at Virginia Tech. Kyana Elder, Gisele Oliveira and Jamine Moton posted qualifying marks for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Elder provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 60m hurdles with an event-winning time of 8.42, while Oliveira recorded a provisional mark of 12.95m (42’6″) in the triple jump, eclipsing her previous season-best, school record and qualifying mark of 12.90m (42’4″). Moton posted a school-record, personal-best and automatic qualifying mark of 20.88m (68’6″) in the weight throw, and also recorded a provisional mark in the shot put (15.12m/49’7.25″).
Shannon Murray led the Lady Tigers in the 60m with an eighth-place finish in 7.67, while Randi Hinton took a fifth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 24.49. Both times were season-bests. In her first collegiate meet, Silja Ulfarsdottir finished seventh in the 200m (24.62) and 400m (55.63). Perry Fields finished second in the one mile run with a time of 4:53.11.
In the field events, Katie Pickett tied for third in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m (5’4.5″), and Joana Costa cleared 3.20m (10’6″) in the pole vault. Gisele Oliveira won the triple jump with her mark of 12.95m (42’6″), and finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.01m (19’8.75″). Sheri Smith placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.27m (40’3.25″).
Jamine Moton posted her best mark of the season in the weight throw with her automatic qualifying mark of 20.88m (68’6″), finishing second in the event. Moton also finished second in the shot put with a mark of 15.12m (49’7.25″). Antisha Anderson posted a third-place finish in the pentathlon with 3,346 points.
The Lady Tigers return to action Jan. 25-26 at the North Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill.
