Wednesday, 11 AM – “The Unexpected Flight”
Ever given up hope on something and by the grace of God and ON HIS TIMING, he granted your prayer on the 23rd hour. This 23rd hour happened to be at 1pm yesterday afternoon, I got a call from our sports information guy, Phil (Sikes)…now, I was curious as to who was in the college dunk contest and I had only seen about 5 names released out of 8 so seeing Phil’s name pop up on my phone raised an eyebrow. The thought flashed my mind but I quickly brushed it off so that I didn’t get my hopes up. After I answered the phone, Phil said “I’m about to make your day, are you still interested in doing the dunk contest?”
Mind you now, I entered the “Dark Horse Contest” and I was out of that contest before the final four, so I figured if they were pulling people for the contest that they would start there but then again, I’ve learned that God doesn’t work conventionally (THANKFULLY!!!) I said “Of Course!” and the rest of the day yesterday was spent trying to get everything arranged to travel (because the contest is tomorrow), and obviously time trying to get the word out. I got a chance to talk to some people (mostly teammates) about ideas since I’m running on short notice, and I think I’ve narrowed it down to a few ideas so we’ll see about it later.
Right now, I’m in the airport getting ready to fly out to New Orleans (and this is the first time I’ve flown anywhere by myself so this is an experience in itself). I’ll keep you guys posted on the trip, the contest, and this whole experience.
