Originally, the letters IPTAY stood for “I pay ten a year.” Begun in 1934 to give the Clemson athletic program the support it needed, IPTAY is now one of the most successful athletic fundraising organizations. IPTAY donors provide millions of dollars in scholarships for student-athletes and non-athletes alike. It also has provided substantial support for programs and facilities that help Clemson Athletics stay competitive in collegiate sports. As part of IPTAY, you help student-athletes be top competitors both on the field and in the classroom. And you get all the benefits that come with being a part of this important organization. Each academic year, IPTAY has the responsibilty of funding all student-athlete scholarships. IPTAY also provides the largest academic endowment (nearly $6 million) on campus to the general student body.
Vickery Hall is the student-athlete academic enrichment center. It provides resources such as tutoring and mentors for all of our nearly 500 student-athletes so that they may succeed in the classroom. During the 2014 fall semester our student-athletes recorded a record 3.02 cumulative GPA, with 55% of student-athletes earning a GPA above 3.0. In order to place our coaches and student-athletes in the best position to succed it is important that we are able to provide them with both new and upgraded facilities.
