Current Issues with Dr. Phillips

Nov. 27, 2007

As our home football season ended on November 17, I would like to use this week’s column to express my appreciation to all of our support staff for creating such a great game day atmosphere at Clemson.

Everyone from concession workers to the Pawvision operators does an excellent job in making Clemson a special place for seven home football Saturdays.

I want to especially thank our spirit groups, which include the cheerleaders, the Rally Cats and Tiger Band. Under the supervision of Dr, Mark Spede, Tiger Band does more than its part to bring enthusiasm to Death Valley.

And, of course, our fans have been very supportive. Their support has been instrumental in our having an exciting football season in Death Valley.

On another note, architectural plans for the next component of the WestZone facility are being finalized. Soon, construction bids will be accepted on the project, which will include the football operations in the WestZone.

Construction may begin as early as March or April of next year.

These new facilities will have an impact throughout the Athletic Department as the Jervey and McFadden buildings are reconfigured to meet the needs of our other sports programs at Clemson.

Please know we appreciate your support of Clemson athletics.

In Solid Orange, Terry Don Phillips Director of Athletics
