Clemson Women’s Tennis Defeats Georgia State, 6-1

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team defeated the Georgia State Lady Panthers on Friday afternoon in Clemson by a score of 6-1. The Tigers record improves to 2-1, while Georgia State falls to 0-2.

In singles play, Clemson freshman Alix Lacelarie was victorious at number one singles over Georgia State’s Mojca Pavlinic by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Milena Stanoycheva of Clemson fell to the Lady Panther’s Maria Soerenson in three sets (6-7, 7-6, 6-7 (10-2) at flight two singles. An the number three position, Tiger freshman Ioana Paun defeated her Georgia State opponent, Jovana Krsikapa by a score of 6-4, 6-1. Clemson’s Ana Stiglic defeated Georgia State’s Jansen at four singles, 7-6, 6-1. At flight five singles, the Tiger’s Laurence Jayet recorded a win over Karine Etienne, 6-2, 6-1. Clemson’s Anna Dolinska won by default at the number six position.

In doubles action, Clemson earned the first half of the doubles point when Georgia State defaulted at the number three position. Clemson’s flight two doubles team won the doubles point for the Tigers as Jayet and Lacelarie combined to defeat Krsikapa and Soerenson, 8-1. Savitskaya and Stanoycheva of Clemson fell at the number one doubles position to Pavlinic and Jansen by a score of 8-6.

The Tigers will travel to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
