Clemson defeats Virginia Commonwealth Sunday

CLEMSON, SC–Senior Tate Parrish scored a goal in the 75th minute in leading the 19th-ranked Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Virginia Commonwealth Sunday afternoon as part of the Virginia Tech Men’s Soccer Tournament in Blacksburg, VA.

Clemson is now 2-2 on the year, while Virginia Commonwealth drops to 2-1-1 this season.

Parrish scored at the 74:39 mark. After a crowd of four went up for a cross, Parrish gained possession then dribbled to his left and fired a shot to the near post from 25 yards out.

Clemson will begin a six-match home stand that starts on Wednesday, September 12, as the Tigers will play host to USC Upstate. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Tigers’ Joseph Bendik had six saves in today’s contest. On Friday night against Virginia Tech, he recorded 12 saves giving him 18 for the tournament.
