Clemson Finishes First Day of Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational

Oak Ridge, Tenn. — The Clemson Tigers Rowing team finished day one of their first away regatta of the 2023 season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Saturday, March 18.

After winning all of their races at the Carolina Cup on Saturday, March 4, Clemson traveled to Oak Ridge Tennessee to compete against several other schools at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational. 

“Our 3V8 led the way in the morning with a gutsy win in our first session that inspired our 1V8 and 2V8 to battle hard charging Notre Dame and Louisville boats for their wins in the afternoon session” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “I’m proud of both of those boats for fighting to put third bows ahead the way they did and for posting faster times this afternoon than this morning. I’m looking forward to tomorrow morning’s session as it will be an opportunity for us to show our Grit; we know our fitness is there and we just have to race like the champions we know ourselves to be.”

The Tigers competed in a total of 12 races Saturday, finishing first in three races, second in two races, and third in seven races. 

Clemson will continue racing tomorrow on Sunday, March 19 at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational. Beginning at 10:18 a.m., Clemson will race in six races on Sunday.
