Oak Ridge, Tenn. — The Clemson Tigers rowing team wrapped up the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Sunday, March 19.
Clemson competed in five races Sunday morning, finishing first in one and third in the other four. This brings the total for the weekend up to four first place finishes, two second place finishes, and 11 third place finishes. The Tigers’ 1v8 impressed this weekend as they earned first place in both of the races that they competed in.
“I can’t say enough positive things about the V8’s performance this weekend” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “The coaches challenged them to be leaders and elite competitors and they embraced their roles with guts and gusto. We also had strong stretches of racing in our other boats, with wins notched for the 2V8 and 3V8 this weekend. Moving forward we will look to improve our racing consistency as a team. We know the work that we’ve put in as a squad so now we just need to find the right combination of racers.
Next the Tigers will travel to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the Oregon State Invite on Saturday, March 25.
