Women’s Track & Field Heads to Atlanta, GA This Weekend

Clemson, SC – The women’s track & field team will head to Atlanta, GA this weekend to take part in the Georgia Tech Invitational. The meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the George C. Griffin Track Complex on the Yellow Jackets’ campus.

Della Clark and Rochelle Kokayko, a pair of regional qualifiers, will get things started for the Lady Tigers in the hammer throw on Friday at noon. Other field events on Friday include the long jump and javelin throw. Linda Buchholz, recently an NCAA provisional qualifier in the heptathlon, is scheduled for the long jump at 7:00 PM. Liane Weber and Bethanie Wachna, a pair of freshmen, will throw the javelin at 6:00 PM.

Clemson will also enter athletes in the prelims for the 100m dash and 100m hurdles, as well as the 5000m run. At 6:30, Polly Hardy and Krystal Barringer will be joined in the high hurdles by Weber. Both Hardy and Barringer have qualified for regionals. Weber ranks third on the team in the event. At 6:55, Michaylin Golladay and Kristine Scott will compete in the 100m prelims. Sunday Ford is scheduled for the 5000m at approximately 9:30 Friday evening.

On Saturday, freshman Anastasia Wilson will compete in the high jump at 11:00 AM. Caroline Kennedy will look to improve on her regional-qualifying mark in the pole vault at noon. At 2:00, the Lady Tigers’ 4x100m relay team of Hardy, Golladay, Barringer, and Scott will take to the track. At the same time, regional qualifiers Patricia Mamona and Nakeisha Wineglass will compete in the triple jump.

Sierra Hill is slated for the 400m intermediate hurdles at 5:10 PM, while Golladay and Scott will conclude the competition for the Lady Tigers in the 200m dash at 6:00 PM.

News
