March 10, 2001

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson divers Craig Thomas and Betsy Potter competed at the Zone B Diving Championships which concluded Saturday in Athens, Ga.

Thomas, a sophomore from Maryville, TN, placed 15th in the one-meter competition with a score of 275.75. His score of 240.80 in the three-meter event placed him 22nd.

“Craig was disappointed that he did not qualify for the NCAA Championships but, overall, he was happy with his performance,” said diving coach Leslie Hasselbach. “This was his first big meet and he stood up and competed well.”

Potter, a senior from Elmira, NY, posted a 211.50 score in the one-meter event and placed 23rd in the three-meter event with a score of 237.40.

“Betsy had a great career here,” said Hasselbach. “She worked hard all four years. Although it didn’t work out at the end, she’ll be leaving with a great track record in four years.”

Up next for the Clemson women’s swimming team is the NCAA Championships in Long Island, NY, March 15-17.
