Ruck Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for Women’s Cross Country

March 2, 2010

NEW ORLEANS – Clemson sophomore Kim Ruck was named to the Division I All-Academic Team for women’s cross country. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) made the announcement Monday afternoon.

Ruck has received her second academic honor within a week’s time. She was named to the All-ACC Academic Team last week, along with Clemson freshman Lauren Reen. A native of Greer, SC, Ruck is coming off a fall cross country season in which she was named All-ACC and All-Region by virtue of outstanding individual finishes. An emerging student-athlete, she most recently won the 5K at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend.

The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and must finish among the top 15 finishers of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet. Ruck, who placed 11th in November at regionals, is a health science major.
