Men’s Tennis Wins in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. – The Clemson men’s tennis team finished their road trip in Florida undefeated by beating the University of Miami 5-2, Friday evening in men’s intercollegiate tennis action. In the first game of the doubleheader the Tigers defeated Florida Atlantic 6-1. The wins improved Clemson to a 4-1 overall while the loss was the first this season for Miami which falls to 5-1 overall.

At the number one singles position, Tiger sophomore Josh Goffi beat Jamin Thompson in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Pablo Bellagamba of Clemson also won in three sets at the number three singles position when he defeated Miami’s Mark Arrowsmith, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Clemson’s only loss in singles play came at number two singles when Johan Lindqvist of Miami beat Clemson’s Ryan Bauer, 6-3, 7-5.

Miami won two of the three doubles matches by winning at the number one and two positions. At number one Miami’s Ralph Hilt and Tarik El Bassouni beat Clemson’s Goffi and Bellagamba, 8-6.

Clemson will return to action on March 3, when they will travel to Texas Christian University for a 1:30 p.m. start.
