Clemson’s Miller Moss Named ACC Performer-of-the-Week for Men’s Track & Field

Feb. 1, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson graduate Miller Moss was named the ACC Performer-of-the-Week for men’s track & field, the conference office announced Tuesday. Moss is the second men’s track & field athlete to receive the weekly conference honor this season. Spencer Adams won the first weekly award in January.

Moss is coming off an outstanding weekend in which he broke his own school record with a world-leading point total in the heptathlon. He won his third crown in four years at the JRF Combined Events Invitational – this time with an NCAA automatic qualifying total of 5,903 points. His previous best was 5,699 at last year’s ACC Indoor Championships. Moss was an indoor All-American last season in the heptathlon.

His record run began with a bang, as he clocked a personal best time of 6.93 in the 60 meter dash. He followed that with another personal best in the long jump – a mark of 23’11.75″. After a solid mark of 43’8.75″ in the shot put, Moss ended the first day strong with a personal best 6’7″ clearance in the high jump. He cleared that height on his first attempt.

Moss’ second day of events also began with a personal best. He ran to a time of 7.99 in the 60 meter hurdles, besting his previous personal record of 8.06 from earlier this season. Moss cleared 15’5″ in the pole vault, a season best, before finishing the deal with a time of 2:46.24 in the 1000 meters.
