Clemson’s Allston And Earp Finish Competition At Clemson Pentathlon Championships

CLEMSON, SC – Two Clemson women’s track and field athletes completed competition at the Clemson Pentathlon Championships held Friday at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Facility. Courtney Allston and Jessica Earp finished eighth and ninth, respectively, out of the 15-athlete field. Gardner-Webb’s Tara Stephenson captured the meet title with 3,661 points. That mark was only 15 points off the facility record of 3,676 points set by Clemson’s Lauren Nicholson in 2004.

Allston, a freshman from Myrtle Beach, SC, tallied 2,779 points to finish eighth in her first pentathlon as a Lady Tiger. She opened the meet with a time of 10.12 in the 60m hurdles, then cleared 5’3″ in the high jump. Allston recorded a mark of 31’3.75″ in the shot put, and jumped 16’2.75″ in the long jump. In the final event, the 800m, she crossed the finish line in 3:06.39.

Fellow freshman Earp posted a 2,668 point total en route to her ninth place finish in her Clemson pentathlon debut. The native of Tallahassee, FL, recorded a 10.46 in the 60m hurdles then cleared 4’8.75″ in the high jump. Earp threw 32’3.5″ in the shot put and had a mark of 14’6″ in the long jump. In the 800m, she completed the run in 2:41.43.
