Clemson Women’s Track And Field Sets Five Qualifying Marks at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, VA – The Clemson women’s track and field team competed at the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet held this weekend. The Lady Tigers posted five NCAA qualifying marks, including an automatic mark by Jamine Moton. Sheri Smith, Terri Robinson and Joana Costa each recorded provisional qualifying marks in field events.

Moton set a personal-best and school-record mark in the weight throw with her automatic qualifying mark of 70’11.25″. She also recorded a provisional mark of 51’1.5″ in the shot put, winning both events. Smith provisionally recorded a mark of 42’2.75″ in the triple jump, setting a season-best mark with a second-place finish among collegiate competitors. She also ranks fourth on Clemson’s all-time list with that result. Robinson’s mark of 20’2.25″ earned her a fifth-place finish, and Joana Costa tied her personal-best and provisional qualifying mark of 12’5.5″ with a second-place finish in the pole vault.

In the running events, Silja Ulfarsdottir placed fourth in the 200mand 400m dashes with times of 24.32 and 54.84, respectively. Randi Hinton also competed in the 400m, finishing 14th in 57.11. Kyana Elder posted a fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.55.
