Clemson Schedule to Have New Look

Clemson Schedule to Have New Look Clemson, S.C.—Four new events are on the Clemson 2014-15 men’s golf schedule.  The Tigers will play 11 regular season tournaments, including trips to Hawaii and Puerto Rico.   Larry Penley’s Tigers will open the schedule onSeptember 5 at the Carpet Classic in Dalton, Ga, the sixth straight year Clemson has opened the season at that event.   There are three new events on the schedule in the fall.  Clemson will play in the Wake Forest Invitational at Primland, the Hummingbird Invitational at Sapphire Valley, N.C. and the Ka’anapali  Classic in Maui, Hawaii.  The new spring event is the Yale Spring Invitational at the Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn.     This will be the first time since the fall of 2004 that Clemson has played six events prior to Christmas. In addition to the Carpet Classic, Clemson will compete in the Dick’s Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. It is the second season of that event.  Clemson finished third in the tournament that features nothing by ACC and SEC teams.   September 29-30 Clemson will head to Meadows of Dan, Virginia for the Wake Forest Invitational.  It is an event that is in its inaugural season and is played at the Primland Resort in Virginia.  October 17-19 Clemson will play in the U.S. Collegiate at the Golf Club of Georgia, one of the top national tournaments of the fall.   Clemson begins its spring schedule at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar.  Clemson finished a strong fourth at the event last year with a 17 under par score.  Current junior Miller Capps won the tournament against a strong field with a 204 score.   Clemson’s remaining four regular season tournaments will all be two-day 54-hole events.  It is the first time in history Clemson has played four consecutive two-day tournaments that will include a day of 36 holes. Those tournaments are the Cleveland Golf Palmetto, the Linger Longer, the Augusta Invitational and the Yale Spring Invitational.  The Course at Yale is one of the sites for the 2015 NCAA Regional.   The ACC Tournament will be held at the Old North State Club in New London, NC for the 14th consecutive year.  The NCAA Regional Tournaments will be held May 14-16 and the national tournament will be at Concession Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla.  It will also be the site of the NCAA Women’s Tournament this year.
