Clemson Men’s Track Competes At Sea Ray Relays

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s track and field team competed at the Sea Ray Relays this weekend in Knoxville, TN. The 4x400m relay team of Charles Allen, Kenny Franklin, Davidson Gill and Ato Modibo set a new Clemson record with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:03.67. The time is the third best in the nation this season. The old record of 3:03.76 was set in 1996 by Gill, Aaron Haynes, Shawn Thomas and Tony Wheeler.

The 4x800m relay team of Mike Connelly, Shaun Murphy, Davidson Gill and Esteban Diaz placed fourth with a time of 7:28.25, while the shuttle hurdle relay team of Mark Jellison, Tony Washington, Todd Matthews and Ian Potter was fifth with a time of 58.07.

Matthews placed 11th in the 100m high hurdles at 13.92, and Steve Alexander was 11th in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:10.88.

In the field events, freshman Doug Ameigh placed ninth in the high jump with a mark of 6’8″, and Ben Hess was sixth in the pole vault at 15’11 1/4″. Freshman Keith Rzewuski placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 49’10 1/2″.
