Clemson Falls to No. 12 Georgia Tech

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team fell to No. 12 Georgia Tech Friday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center, 7-0. The Yellow Jackets improve to 8-2 (1-0 ACC) while the Tigers fall to 8-5 (1-1 ACC).

The Tigers looked to be in command of doubles play before the Yellow Jackets stormed back on court one to clinch the point. Sam Edwards and Daffra Sanon controlled court two with a 6-3 victory. Robert Dudley and Carlos Kelaidis fought back on court three to force a tiebreak before falling, 7-6(4). In the deciding match, Alex Favrot and Arturo Pinazo were leading 4-1 on court one but fell 7-6(5) to the 43rd-ranked doubles team in this week’s ITA rankings.  

Georgia Tech carried their momentum into singles play jumping out to a 2-0 lead when Favrot fell to 7th-ranked Eubanks at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2. The Yellow Jackets claimed the next two points to clinch the match with straight set victories at No. 4 and No. 2. Georgia Tech completed the sweep over the Tigers after taking straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6.

Clemson returns to the courts next Friday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m. against in-state rival South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
