PHILADELPHIA – Torie Robinson, Rebekah Smith, Ebony Williams and Sidney Marshallregistered a time of 45.09 seconds to qualify for Friday’s 4x100m championship heat. The combo of Robinson, Smith, Williams and Marshall earned a second-place finish in the third heat and placed fourth overall for the event. The top-9 teams advance to tomorrow’s championship invitational, which is slated for 12:55 p.m.

The Tigers’ distance medley relay consisting of Kamryn McIntosh, Kendra Clarke, Fellan Ferguson and Grace Barnett turned in their second-best time of the season (11:11.29) to place fourth overall. Kendra Clarke ran the fastest 400m leg, 53.21 seconds, out of all 11 competitors.

Following the women’s DMR was the women’s 4x400m relay to close out the day for the Tigers. Clarke, Williams, Markeeta Thomas and Lakeisha Warnertallied Clemson’s third fourth-place finish among Thursday’s relay events. Their time of 3:41.21 was good to win heat No. 3.

Thomas and Warner opened action Thursday morning in the women’s 400m hurdles (college). Thomas, a Philadelphia native, placed third overall with a time of 58.73 seconds, while Warner (1:00.54), who moved into No. 9 all-time with her performance last week in the event at LSU, placed eighth.

Additionally, incoming Clemson thrower Veronica Fraley posted the nation’s No. 1 mark to win the high school women’s discus. The Raleigh, N.C., native threw for 53.59m.

Clemson resumes action at the Penn Relays Friday (April 27) with Deron Gordon in the college men’s 400m hurdles at 9 a.m. Freshman Harleigh Whitekicks off the first of three field events for the Tigers, beginning at 11 a.m., in the women’s collegiate triple jump.
