Tigers Fall at No. 1 Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team fell to Wake Forest on Friday night at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex, 6-1. With the loss, the Tigers slide to 9-7 (3-5 ACC), while the No. 1 Demon Deacons improve to 17-2 (6-1 ACC).

The Demon Deacons claimed the doubles point over the Tigers with wins on courts two and three. Wake Forest took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 1 when 8th-ranked Borna Gojo defeated 59th-ranked Alex Favrot, 6-1, 6-2. The Demon Deacon pushed their lead to 3-0 with a straight set win at No. 6, 7-5, 6-0. The clinching match came at No. 3 where Botzer defeated Edwards, 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Yizhou Liu battled back after dropping the first set 6-1 to give the Tigers their lone point of the match, taking the second and third set 6-0, 6-3.

Clemson returns to the courts next Sunday, April 8 against N.C. State. The match is set to begin at noon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.
