Tevin Hester is in his fourth season as Clemson’s Assistant Coach for Short Sprints in 2026-27, after returning to his alma mater in 2023. Hester works with the program’s 60-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter sprinters and oversees the men’s and women’s 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays. He previously spent three seasons coaching at the University of Pittsburgh and began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Clemson.
Hester has helped Clemson build one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s strongest sprint groups. During his first four seasons back at Clemson, his athletes contributed to three ACC team championships: the 2025 women’s indoor title, the 2026 women’s indoor title and the 2026 women’s outdoor title. Clemson sprinters also captured ACC titles in the men’s and women’s 4x100-meter relays, the men’s 200 meters and the women’s 2025 indoor 200 meters. Ian Johnson was named the 2026 ACC Men’s Track MVP after scoring in the 100 meters, 200 meters and relays.
The 2026 outdoor season produced several historic performances under Hester’s guidance. Clemson’s women’s 4x100-meter relay of Aleksandra Stoilova, Aniyah Kitt, McKenzie Calloway and Briana Campbell ran 42.48 seconds to set the ACC, ACC Championships meet and Clemson records. The men’s 4x100-meter relay ran 38.90, the fourth-fastest time in program history, while Ian Johnson’s 10.01 in the 100 meters tied for second on Clemson’s all-time list. Hester also coached Jalen Johnson to the ACC indoor and outdoor 200-meter titles and helped Kitt establish Clemson records in the 300 meters and 100 meters.
Hester’s athletes have also excelled nationally and internationally. The men’s 4x100-meter relay earned Second Team All-America honors at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships, while the women’s 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays and Jalen Johnson earned NCAA All-America recognition. Hester has coached Aleksandra Stoilova, a 2024 Paris Olympian, and previously helped guide NCAA qualifiers Rebekah Smith and Marcus Parker, two USA U23 NACAC gold medalists and one USA U23 NACAC silver medalist.
Before entering the coaching profession, Hester established himself as one of Clemson’s most decorated sprinters. He was a seven-time ACC champion and nine-time First Team All-American, and he remains the ACC Championships meet-record holder in the outdoor 200 meters with a time of 20.13. His wind-aided 9.87 in the 100 meters remains the fastest all-conditions mark in Clemson history. As a volunteer coach at Clemson, he helped the men’s 4x400-meter relay win the 2019 ACC title and guided Rebekah Smith to the 2018 Penn Relays 100-meter Championship of America title.
Hester was inducted into the Clemson Athletics Hall of Fame this fall as a member of the 2026 class, an honor recognizing his accomplishments as both a student-athlete and coach. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Clemson in 2016.
