Pearson Joins Clemson Volleyball Team, Transfers from Arizona State

CLEMSON, S.C. – Caroline Pearson, a transfer from Arizona State University, has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Clemson volleyball team for the 2017 season. Pearson played in 13 matches, starting nine, as a sophomore setter for the Sun Devils in 2016.

“We are thrilled to have Caroline join the Clemson family,” said Head Coach Michaela Franklin. “She is an intense competitor and will fit perfectly with our offensive system. She comes to Clemson with a tremendous amount of experience, and what I enjoyed learning the most about Caroline during her recruiting process is that she truly is a team player. She will have an impact not only on the court, but will also build strong and meaningful relationships with her teammates.

“Caroline is a joy to be around as she has a positive outlook on everything she does, along with the work ethic and focus to be successful in anything she puts her mind to.”

Pearson accumulated 250 assists in 42 sets for a 5.95 assist per set average in 2016, and also tallied 62 digs (1.48 per set). She recorded a career-high 46 assists in Arizona State’s 3-2 win over Oakland on Sept. 3, 2016. Pearson was a freshman at the University of Denver in 2015, where she played in seven matches and tallied 40 assists on the season.

The Chicago, Ill. native played for New Trier High School and Sports Performance Volleyball Club for four seasons from 2011-14. She participated in the USA Volleyball Junior National A1 Program in 2014 and the USA Volleyball Youth Continental Team in 2013. She was named to the AVCA Under Armour Watch List in 2014 and the AVCA Phenom List in 2013.
