After two weeks off from ACC play, Clemson will begin a stretch of five straight conference games on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the Tigers face the Virginia Tech Hokies. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C. is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Saturday's contest could prove to be pivotal in the race for ACC Championship Game positioning.
At 2-1 in conference play, Clemson is one of five teams with one loss or fewer in ACC play this season. Behind 4-0 Miami (Fla.), that group includes 2-1 Clemson, 4-1 Wake Forest, 3-1 SMU and 2-1 North Carolina. That quartet of one-loss teams has only two games against one another this season, a Sept. 19 Clemson win against North Carolina, and a looming Nov. 14 matchup between Wake Forest and SMU.
Virginia Tech is among a crowded group of nine teams currently standing with two conference losses. Clemson holds a 9-6-1 all-time edge in home games against the Hokies. However, Saturday's game will mark only the third time that Virginia Tech has visited Death Valley since joining the ACC prior to the 2004 season.
